Growing up as the son of a veteran, some of my earliest memories are of my father in uniform. Each morning as he put on that uniform - first serving our nation in the military, then protecting our communities in law enforcement - I learned what true service meant. Through his example, I understood that freedom isn't just a word in our Constitution – it's a gift, purchased with the blood and sacrifice of American heroes.
Today, as I look across Louisiana, I see that same spirit of service in every veteran's eyes. You didn't just defend our Constitution – you lived its values. You didn't just protect our way of life – you demonstrated what makes America exceptional. In a world where many take freedom for granted, you stood ready to give everything to preserve it.
I will NEVER stop fighting for our veterans because I've seen firsthand the price of service through my father's eyes. You stood guard over our nation; now it's our sacred duty to stand up for you. To every veteran, including my father, uncle and cousins: Your sacrifice echoes through generations. Your courage inspires us. Your dedication humbles us.
